The Essentials
On this page you will find the heartbeat of Church180. These are the untouchables that define us. We may miss from time to time, but these essentials are always our target!
Our intention... our vision...
-
To create environments where anyone can discover God, connect with friends, and become a better person.
The Hills We Die On define what will never change at Church180. LOTS of things will change... these will not.
-
Scripture: we will always submit to the authority of Scripture.
-
Unbelievers: we will always seek to pursue unbelievers before we seek to please believers.
-
Men: we will be a place where a man would choose to attend, even if his wife is out of town.
-
Diversity: we will be a place where Sunday looks like Monday. From race to age to gender to politics to socio-economics, we will break the bank for diversity.
-
Competence: we will help people find and serve in their “sweet spot", and we will recruit and deploy competent people.
-
Honesty: we will always tell the truth.
-
Resourcefulness: we will creatively use what we have to do the best we can.
"Culture" explains what it's like 'round here. (Pastor Paul taught a series on this subject. You can see it here.)
-
Love – we treat others like we want to be treated.
-
Joy/Peace – we like to say, "Shoulder to shoulder, we’ve got this."
-
We run to problems because we love peace.
-
When we work together, everything is possible.
-
-
Patience/Kindness – we qualify the unqualified with patience and kindness.
-
We take the time, and do the work to create God-honoring environments, and people.
-
-
Faithfulness/Goodness – we are faithful so we can be good.
-
We do work that is good.
-
We finish what we start.
-
-
Gentleness/Self-control
-
We are gentle on people and tough on problems.
-
We demonstrate self-control in corporate and personal life.
-
We live in the spirit God has given us, and do not make or avoid decisions because of fear – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7 NLT)
